Most people will recognize the busy-ness of life. You lack in one area only because you've been evolving and focusing on other areas of your life/art practice/family.
Seems this is true for where I've been. Critically deliquent on my blog pages but steering efforts in other areas along the way. I truly believe maintaining one's blog is a useful tool for clearing one's mind and sharing with an audience.
As of my last blog I have created some exciting new work I am pleased with, I have connected with a pop-up gallery in Vancouver called Roam Gallery. I plan on submitting my realism to another gallery on the Sunshine Coast, and plan to apply to show my work to Amelia Douglas Gallery at Douglas College in New Westminster.
So all this means my photos, CV, Artist Statements must be up to date. Varnishing many new works after photodocumenting them.
I have updated my information on this website, posting prices on my abstract work etc. I've created new small works for the Surrey Art Gallery gift shop, yet to deliver these. I've recently finished a good book on Joan Mitchell, Abstract painter from the U.S. who lived a good part of her life in Paris. The second time I've read it, which I never read a book twice.
In the meantime working many hours at my 'other job', the one that pays my studio rent and materials.
I strive this year to make serious contacts with galleries or venues to showcase my work, leading to sales of my work. Often there are far more artists doing the same then there are venues able to accomodate them. The world is full of artists, how does one stand out from the millions. Grace, style and contacts I suppose. Here's to the next important leg of my art-making venture...reaching out now as I am ready and my work is ready!
